Blood Systems consolidated their regional testing laboratories into this new masonry building to comply with current and future Federal regulations. This fast-track, design/build project has exterior split face and colored block with a wood roof structure. The building has four main inside areas: central processing lab, genetics lab, administrative offices and warehouse/future lab expansion. The central processing lab is designed for strict temperature and humidity control, including HVAC redundancy and a back-up electric generator. The building has around-the-clock occupancy and uses a two-pipe chilled water refrigeration system. Both lab areas have modular casework to allow for remodeling/reconfiguration. hardison/downey provided structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and landscape design on this project.
